PLANS & OVERHEAD
ABOUT THE DESIGN
The bland and white kitchen and living room of the location transformed into the cozy cottage of Bunny, a woman with dementia. Using this house as a blank canvas (see before and after photos above), I chose the wallpaper, cabinet paint color, & curtains to allude to age, both physical and mental. I pulled inspiration from my own grandmother with dementia, as well as researching memory loss. Bunny's house is riddled with notes-to-self, family photos, and heirlooms to jog her waning memory. It is decorated with pieces from many eras, as she collected things throughout her life, but never let them go. It was important to me to include a photo chest of some sort, as that is the keeper of her memories. Bunny and the protagonist, Maynard, are united through jazz, even until the end of the world.
